Customer Survey

A few quick questions...

Would you like a book that is larger or has more pages?

If yes, why?

Other reasons?

The disadvantage of a larger book is that it costs more to print, more to buy and more to post. And you can't look at heavy books while lying in bed or on the lounge unless you have the muscles of Hercules.

But bigger photographs look excellent and there's more room for me to go into detail and tell some of the many stories behind the images.

Would you prefer a book that is smaller or that has fewer pages?

Approximately what size would you like to see (approx measurements or number of pages)?
If you would like to see a smaller book, why?

Because it would be cheaper to buy?
So the postage to you would cost less?
Because it would be cheaper to send or take as gifts for people in Australia or overseas?

What would you like to see more of in a future book?

Horses working or resting
Cattle mustering or yardwork
People at work
How people live (stockcamp, dinnercamp)
Other people on stations (cooks, mechanics, truck drivers, managers)
Natural landscapes (from the air or ground)
Man made landscapes (yards, old buildings etc)

Why is there no map?

A few people have asked why there is no map showing the locations of the stations included in “A Million Acre Masterpiece.” It’s a good question and there are a couple of reasons why:

  • None of these stations are open to the public but unfortunately some people do roll up on the doorstep uninvited. Including a map in the book would undoubtedly have raised the numbers of these unwelcome visitors. No manager would thank me for adding to their responsibilities.

Detailed employment, travel and map information is listed on separate pages on the website. If you want to visit some of these stations then I’d recommend Ag Tour (more details in the ‘Travelling in the Outback’ section).

  • There are many other equally interesting cattle stations that aren’t included in “A Million Acre Masterpiece”. Those that are included in the book are just some of the ones that I’ve been fortunate enough to have visited and the photographs are typical examples of what occurs on a large number of stations to some degree or another.

I don’t believe one station is ‘better’ than another, just different. Consequently I don’t wish to encourage the view that some are more worthy of attention than others.

Also, other books have already been published that contain maps and background information on specific stations.
