{"id":1914,"date":"2011-10-13T16:08:48","date_gmt":"2011-10-13T06:08:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fionalake.com.au\/blog\/?p=1914"},"modified":"2011-10-13T16:15:28","modified_gmt":"2011-10-13T06:15:28","slug":"australian-outback-calendars-outback-photos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fionalake.com.au\/blog\/australian-outback-calendars-outback-photos\/","title":{"rendered":"Australian Outback Calendars &#8211; outback photos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After many years of customer requests I was all teed up to finally produce a 2012 Australian outback calendar.\u00a0 I even had the format planned and most of the photos picked out.<\/p>\n<p>Just before I got stuck right into calendar production,\u00a0I was approached by <a title=\"Landmark website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.landmark.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\">Landmark<\/a> because they wanted the 2012 Landmark calendar to feature large Australian cattle stations.\u00a0 So I have avoided producing my own outback calendar for another year!\u00a0 However the photos included in \u00a0the 2012 Landmark calendar were all taken by me, the paper and printing are really good quality and it will end up hanging on many more thousands of\u00a0walls than I could\u00a0be in a position to\u00a0manage, because Landmark have branches all over Australia.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 14 Landmark calendar\u00a0photos range from the East and West Kimberley regions of Western Australia, through the Northern Territory, into Queensland&#8217;s Channel Country and Cape York Peninsula.\u00a0\u00a0 The photos are arranged in the order of a typical day&#8217;s mustering on a large Australian cattle station &#8211; from before dawn until sunset, and the calendar is titled &#8216;Mustering across the north &#8211; a day in the life&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Ten of Australia&#8217;s most interesting, large\u00a0cattle stations which I have visited over the last 25 years are included in the 2012 Landmark calendar:\u00a0 Brunette Downs, Tanbar, Wave Hill, Lilyvale, Mabel Downs, Lucy Creek, Glengyle, Napier Downs, Nockatunga and Alexandria.\u00a0 These cattle stations are owned by well known beef industry families and a variety of publicly and privately owned\u00a0pastoral companies.<\/p>\n<p>All 14 calendar\u00a0photos are accompanied by brief but\u00a0informative captions, with the sort of information that you wish was included with all\u00a0photos, so you at least knew where the photos were taken and something about the subject.\u00a0 If as they say, &#8216;a picture is worth a thousand words&#8217;, then it is true that &#8216;a picture with a great caption is worth a million words&#8217;.\u00a0 Good images + good captions, create something so much better than just &#8216;good&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>The 2012 Landmark calendar\u00a0will be available to Landmark customers, sometime next month.<\/p>\n<p>It was really enjoyable working with Landmark to put it together, and I look forward to producing a 2013\u00a0Australian outback calendar.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After many years of customer requests I was all teed up to finally produce a 2012 Australian outback calendar.\u00a0 I even had the format planned and most of the photos picked out.
