Australian Country Television Programmes
ABC television — Landline
12noon to 1pm on Sundays. Landline Extra – 6pm Mondays. The ‘Best of Landline’ runs during December and January.
A first class quality, unique programme, that features rural business and environmental stories and news, including weekly weather and market summaries. Despite the midday time slot and lack of active ABC promotion, every programme is watched by more than half a million people from a huge range of different walks of life. Many viewers have never travelled out of the suburbs, and they use Landline as their sole source of rural information.
ABC television — Australian Story
Monday nights, 8-8.30pm.
Australian Story doesn’t just have stories with a rural connection, but many of them do, and show great rural landscapes. Like Landline it is produced in Brisbane.
Channel Nine — McLeods Daughters
Now discontinued, but the DVDs are still available. See the separate McLeods Daughters page.
