AACo head office (Brisbane)

Great to see ‘Mitchell grass & mackerel sky’ is still on the wall in the AACo’s head office (Brisbane).  Spotted a photograph of AACo MD/CEO David Farley standing beside it, in October’s edition of The Australian Farm Journal (page 15).

I took the photograph ‘Mitchell grass & mackerel sky’ early one morning when driving south from Heartbreak (Cape Crawford) along the Tableland Highway, returning home from a trip to the Kimberleys.  I had a drive into the east of about 1200km for the day so was in a rush and cursing the mackerel sky because it did exactly as I’d expected – got thicker throughout the day, until it was a dull grey blanket (ruining the light).  However the light early in the day was spectacular, so the mackerel sky turned out to be a blessing.

In August 2012 David Farley was photographed by the Courier Mail in front of one of several photographs of mine, adorning the AACo’s head office walls. This photographs shows the fantastic good-season vegetation surrounding ‘Corella Lake’, on Brunette Downs Station, and was taken in the 1990s when Geoff Wagstaff was manager.
