Someone drew my attention to the recent change in the tone on the Get Up! forum regarding live export. Many people are now adding comments saying they are dismayed at the banning of Australian live exports – the effect on cattle, the effect on primary producers, and the fact that it will do absolutely nothing to help prevent cruelty. And they are questioning the motives behind the animal liberation movements pushing for the livestock export ban, and questioning the motives and decisions made bythe Gillard Labor Government.

The promoters of this action need to understand that livestock producers love their animals and the land they live on, otherwise they’d be working M-F in an airconditioned office receiving a guaranteed income each week.
It’s easy to criticise when you’re safely coocooned far from the realities of life, safe in suburbia.
