Anyone who still believes that banning Australian live exports is an intelligent idea should read this excellent explanation by Genevieve Hopkins on her ‘Green Foodie’ blog. As Genevieve explained, early on she signed petitions supporting the banning of live exports. Then, in response to pointy comments posted on her blog, she decided to do some research. The facts she discovered changed her mind from believing that live exports should be banned, to believing that livestock producers genuinely abhor cruelty and want measures introduced to stop it occurring, and that there are sound reasons why Australia’s live export trade exists and why it should be allowed to continue.
