Sydney exhibition
‘Outback by the Sea’ (Australia’s largest cattle stations)
Tuesday March 18th to Sunday March 30th 2008
Bondi Pavilion Gallery, Queen Elizabeth Drive, Bondi Beach, Sydney (New South Wales)
It has taken more than 10 years to line up a good venue in Australia’s largest city. Competition for quality exhibition space is fierce. Don’t miss this exhibition, it will be well worth seeing.
‘Outback by the Sea’ will be open daily from 10am until 5pm & later by appointment. Please note that I will be at the exhibition every day except for Saturday 29 March (when attending a family wedding).
Opening night attendance numbers are limited so buyers on the mailing list have first preference to attend. It is customers that have enabled this exhibition to take place — this support is very much appreciated.
The Sydney Royal Easter Show runs from Thursday March 20th to Wednesday April 2nd, and Easter is Friday March 21st to Monday March 24th, so it is an ideal time for regional residents to plan a visit to Sydney — and kill several birds with one rock.
Accommodation in Sydney:
I recommend that families staying 3 nights or more in Sydney consider renting an apartment. It’s far more cost efficient than a hotel & the sanest option. There are several large websites for booking holiday houses, such as Rent-a-home, Domain and Stayz.
Parking close to the Bondi Pavilion is at a premium, especially during peak periods (eg hot weekends!). This is Australia’s most famous beach just 7km from the centre of Australia’s most populous region. I recommend travelling by bus (they run every 10 mins) or taxi. Trains go to Bondi Junction, then buses go the extra distance to the beach — the bus stop is right outside the station — you simply follow the crowd who got off the train, it’s easy. The train from the airport into the city is also highly recommended. Parking is available a few streets away from the beach but depending on when you are there, it might be necessary to park and walk some blocks (stick your thongs in your handbag).
There are restaurants and cafes too numerous to mention, every sort of tucker is available — including excellent lamb ribs & steak. And I can personally recommend the cake shop on Campbell’s Parade, unfortunately it will be open every time I go past in the morning.
For other information, visit the Waverley Council’s website information on the Bondi Pavilion Community Culture Centre.
Future Exhibitions
After the Sydney exhibition I plan to have a break so there’s time for the many other projects on the drawing board. Running a good quality exhibition properly ties up a lot of time, energy and money, and this exhibition has taken months of planning.
However exhibitions will be held again in future, at some stage, so please do add your details to the mailing list if you wish to ensure you are aware of what is on. Please note that when opening night attendance numbers have to be capped, people who are recorded as buyers on the mailing list will receive first offer of attendance.
It is not usual to run exhibitions more than once in the same region. I recommend that people who are interested make the effort to attend an exhibition held in their area because another local opportunity does not usually happen.
