‘Beaten by a Blow’ – A shearer’s Story

Dennis McIntosh’s riveting autobiography is well written, funny, thought-provoking and very, very poignant. On top of that, it’s an exceedingly important historical record of shearing life from the 1970s to the early 1980s. It’s these rural cultural aspects that I enjoyed reading about most, because they are almost never discussed. This book deserves a swag of prizes.
