Greenvale ‘Stock Up For Hope’ event, Thurs 23 July

On Thursday 23rd July there will be a ‘Stock up for Hope’ charity event at Greenvale (north Queensland).

The 4pm footy match at the Greenvale oval will be refereed by Stock Up For Hope CEO & NRL referee Tim Mander. Former Cowboys coach Graham Murray will also be there, along with representatives from the Cowboys Development Squad. A great value dinner follows at the Greenvale Three Rivers Hotel (yes the one made famous by Slim Dusty). Guaranteed to be a great afternoon & evening amongst basalt country residents, and in support of a great cause.

Sponsors include Elders Rural Services, Ray White Rural Townsville, Queensland Rural, Booth Pastoral Services, Landmark, Ingham Tyre Service, Three Rivers Hotel Greenvale, Coleman’s Stockfeeds, Dinocrete Hughenden, Olssons Stockfeeds, Jervoise Organic Meats, Towers Motorcycles, Donohues, Lanskey’s Saddlery, Townsville Welding Services, Price Attack Castletown, Healthy & Harmony – Charters Towers, Australia Post – Mount Garnet, Bivouac Junction Holiday Cabins, Greenvale Hardware, and Malanda Rural Supplies. The footy match is certain to be interesting, because it will be Ray White Rural versus Elders. George Booth and Kevin Currie will be there, but are they going to be playing footy – against one another?

While Stock Up Qld (SU Qld) has been around for ninety years, Stock Up For Hope began in 2004, and started to become well known in 2007 with the first droving trip from Hughenden to Blackall and charity auction of cattle. SU Qld is a not-for-profit inter-denominational Christian organisation that is focused on helping children and young people by providing pastoral support. The value of having an independent, caring and completely confidential person to talk to, through the tricky years of growing up, cannot be underestimated. It can actually save the lives of young people who are depressed or having family, school or other difficulties.

SU is the largest provider of chaplains in Queensland state schools, with around 500 chaplains in Queensland. Some of the proceeds from the Greenvale fundraising event will be used to support the Greenvale, Mount Surprise and Forsayth State School Chaplaincy Service and also an SU Qld camp for local kids, to be held at Mount Surprise.
