Top End & Kimberley Photography Tour

Been dreaming of escaping to the Northern Territory’s Top End and Western Australia’s spectacular Kimberley region?

Come with us in 2020 on a ten day dream trip covering more than 1,000km across the remote north-west corner of Australia.

From the crocodiles, buffalo and magnetic antbeds of the Northern Territory’s Top End…

Fancy wandering out the front of our Darwin Esplanade hotel to watch the sun setting over Darwin harbour? This is exactly what I did in January. Darwin is Australia’s only tropical city – during May the evenings are typically balmy and the days warm and sunny.

…to the red cliffs and towering fan palms of the spectacular Victoria River District…

We’ll be spending time in one of the most underrated landscapes in Australia – the Northern Territory’s Victoria River District – with towering sandstone escarpments and livistona ‘fan’ palms.

…overnight beside the vast expanse of Lake Argyle, Australia’s largest irrigation dam, with an inflow rate second only to that of the Amazon…

Lake Argyle is a RAMSAR site due to the amount of wildlife, which includes an estimated 30,000 freshwater crocodiles. It’s a spectacular sight so we’re staying overnight here.

… to the farming oasis of Kununurra, in Western Australia’s East Kimberley region.

After our night in the Lake Argyle Resort we take a boat downstream through Carlton Gorge to Kununurra. (Mobile phone image of Kelly’s Knob, taken just after a wet season downpour.)

A trip designed especially for everyone who loves taking photographs (whether casual or dedicated), the Australian bush and the company of like-minded people.

Inaugural outback photography tour – so we’ve kept the price at an introductory level.

Numbers limited to 15 – when these seats are sold, no more can squeeze on. It’s a personal tour.

The departure date TBC  – contact Fiona Lake for more details.

No two tours are identical and we may be in a completely different region the following year.

This tour has something for everyone – spectacular landscapes, remote area solitude, a huge variety of native wildlife – and a lot of fun. (Lake Argyle, mobile phone image – more than 20m deep here, wasn’t going to risk dropping my heavier cameras, I needed one free hand to swim back to the boat!)
