Keeping up with the Joneses TV show, Channel Ten

January 5th, 2011

Stumbled upon an interesting Whirlpool forum discussion regarding ‘Keeping up with the Joneses’.  It beautifully illustrates the increasingly wide chasm between born and bred politically-correct inner suburbanites and Australians who have some connection with the bush.   As well as those who have an understanding of operating a business and those who don’t. ‘They both have incredibly […]

Christmas order delivery times

December 12th, 2010

I’ve had a few queries lately regarding Christmas delivery times.  To ensure pre-Christmas delivery all December orders for books and cards are sent out within 1-2 days of receipt (often on the same day).  All Australian orders for 4 books or less are sent by Express Post so they only take a few days to reach most parts […]

Great Southern management – Vault Financial Group

December 12th, 2010

The Great Southern Managed Investment Scheme went leg up in May 2009 initially with debts of  700 million plus, but eventually it transpired that more than $1 billion was owed to investors.  Almost exactly 18 months later, 3 people from the top of Great Southern management have launched into a new venture, Vault Advisory Services, trading as Vault Financial […]

Equitana Australia has been held nearly every year since it began in Victoria in 1999.  It was held in Melbourne in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2008 and 2010; and in Brisbane in 2002.  (2007 Equitana Melbourne was cancelled due to the Equine Influenza outbreak.) It has just been announced that Equitana will be held in Sydney for the […]

Andrew Cranswick, previous owner of Moola Bulla Station

December 8th, 2010

Came across an interesting story in the Sydney Morning Herald.  It concerns a Zimbabwean, Andrew Cranswick, who owned a part share in Moola Bulla cattle station from 2001 to 2006.   Peter Camm’s colourful past also scores a mention.  Andrew Cranswick has been investigated by the ATO for unpaid tax and has now been declared bankrupt by the Federal […]

Equitana Melbourne 2010

November 28th, 2010

Equitana was an amazing experience – meeting people during the day, and attending events at night.  A highlight for me was seeing the ‘All Star Showcase’ on Thursday night, the Grand Prix Dressage on Saturday night and the show jumping final on the last day.  Which a Queenslander won.  One of the commentators remarked early on […]

Equitana Melbourne 2010

November 21st, 2010

Currently at Equitana, and what a fabulous surprise.  I thought the figures given on interstate visitation were probably overstated (45% from outside Victoria) but in actual fact I think they are understated, at least for Equitana 2010.   I have met truckloads of visitors from Western Australia (including the Kimberleys), the Northern Territory, South Australia, […]

The Joneses of Coolibah Station

November 11th, 2010

‘Keeping up with the Joneses’ is poking along nicely each week although I’d love to see a lot more on the work and details of what work on a cattle station really entails, rather than just more of what the Jones family do in their time off.  Which unfortunately could give anyone who doesn’t know […]
