LinkedIn Networking, agribusiness & regional residents

June 9th, 2012

I’ve built a LinkedIn network of more than 2,000 like-minded people and would like to share some LinkedIn tips I wish I’d understood from the start.  (This is part of the “Social Media and Farmers” series.) First to explain – it took many hours of work to build a good quality network of this size, […]

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations & Royal Horses

June 6th, 2012

Queen Elizabeth has clearly been a life-long horse fanatic.  She appears to love horses of all breeds – the mark of a true horse lover, as distinct from those who favour just one breed or just one type.  The sight of the horses from the royal stables included in the Diamond Jubilee Tattoo was a […]

Managing Director of the AACo, David Farley, has said that the AACo is now proceeding with plans to build an abattoir south of Darwin. ABC radio interview with Jacquie Mackay

May 29th, 2012

Jacquie Mackay, from ABC Capricornia (Rockhampton), interviewed me at Beef Week this year.  Many people must have heard the interview on air because so many mentioned it when coming past my stand – but if you missed it, the radio interview can be heard online on the ABC Capricornia website. Beef Australia Expo (Rocky’s Beef Week) 2012

May 14th, 2012

Beef Week is over for another 3 years. This year a record crowd attended of almost 85,000 people, over 5 days.  Many Beef Australia visitors travelled from interstate and remote areas, and other countries.  Though the tradefair keeps me flat out for the duration, it’s immensely enjoyable.  I’m already looking forward to Beef Week in […]

William’s Outback Magazine ‘station story’ on a beautiful cattle station – Lilyvale.  Owned by the Shephard family for more than 80 years, it was the only cattle station that was a financially healthy pastoral business on the east coast of Cape York Peninsula.  Lilyvale has a relatively […]

Rocky’s Beef Week, May 2012

April 6th, 2012

Only a month to go until Rockhampton’s triennial Beef Week Exposition, running from 7th to the 12th of May, 2012. I’ll be there again this year, in the Walter Pearce Pavilion at tradefair stand number 45.  This year, not far from the restaurant – so I’ll be able to smell food, even though I won’t […]

Increasing numbers of New Zealanders are spending a year or two working on Australian cattle stations and farms, along with backpackers from many other countries. Queensland Election – the reasons why

March 26th, 2012

If Australia doesn’t get a send-us-broke carbon tax due to a Federal ALP rethink, then NSW, Vic, ACT, Tas, SA, WA & NT business owners & employees & households & investors can thank Queensland. Odd that the Qld Labor party put the defeat down largely to the ‘poor explanation’ regarding the privatisation of publicly owned assets, […]
